The Ultimate Guide To Wedding Entertainment

So you are planning your big day and worrying about what to provide for your guests to keep them entertained. Well worry no more because I have compiled a list that has some traditional elements and some that are a bit off the wall for those looking for something different.

  • DJ - Now it is traditional to have music and dancing and a DJ is one way to go. A good DJ can ensure there is a constant stream of great music to keep the dance floor rocking. You can add variations by asking guests to create personal playlists that the DJ can play and have guests guess whose playlist that is - just a bit of fun.

  • Live Band - This is a very personal but lovely choice and will take some choosing to ensue the band can play the music you would like for your day. Also make sure they are flexible and can change pace and style if required.

  • Photo Booth - There just has to be a photobooth at a wedding these days and with good reason. This is a great way for guests to entertain themselves, get a keepsake from your wedding while also providing you with an unusual memory book of all the photos taken on the day with greetings from your guests. Mianki Jamboree does provide a photobooth option

  • Giant Garden Games - Now we all know that not everyone at a wedding is into dancing, and even those who are may not want to be dancing all night so here we can provide some traditional garden games that will provide a great atmosphere and endless fun. Add a bit of competition with prizes and it's all systems go. Mianki Jamboree provides 24 hour rental on an array of games like Jenga, Cornhole, Connect 4, Giant Chess and some new games you might not yet know but ones that will provide great animated fun. The option is also available to have a Mini Golf course with prizes.

  • Salsa Dancing Class - Here is an unusual activity for your wedding. Have all your guests take a class during the reception. Everyone has some fun and learn something new. They even get to practice after while the band or DJ plays music. Now that’s a win win if I say so myself.

  • Magician & or Comedian - This isn't for the entire evening but does provide an entertaining option.

  • Photo Scavenger Hunt - Issue to all guests a list of photos they are to get which may include couple kissing, holding hands etc. Everyone has a phone with a camera these days so they will all be off getting photos which can then be uploaded with a special hashtag

  • Professional Dancers - Add a bit of excitement with a dance troupe performing.

  • Limbo Competition - For the more nimble among us this activity always gets the blood pumping and is good for a few laughs especially to look back on

  • Glitter Bar or Face Painting - Now this isn't just for the kids but also the big kids. Have a glitter bas setup and have all interested parties have a glitter makeover. This will create a great photos and enjoyment

  • Children's Colouring Station - Something to keep the little ones entertained when they get bored of all the fuss

  • Wedding Table Games - This takes the form of cards that are conversation starters, dares and questions but may also include advise cards so guests can leave some fun advise or tips of things to avoid in the marriage.

  • Couples Quiz - This always gets everyone laughing

  • Live Painter - It is entertaining, watching a master as work creating a painting of the event or the couple but it is not interactive.

  • Caricaturist - Fun portraits of the guest throughout the event which also gives them a keepsake. This is lovely and special but you must remember it is very unlikely everyone will get a caricature to take home unless it is a small wedding so having other activity to compliment would be recommended.

  • Sip & Paint - I am not sure if there is anyone who doesn't know what this is but your guests are lead through a group session by an artist to paint a picture using step by step instructions. I know you may not consider yourself an artist but you will be surprised how good you can be. Of course there is the sipping part of the process. To help the creative spirit progress wine is available to sip as you paint.

  • Popcorn Stand - This is not an activity that stands on its own but will be spmething guests remember.

  • Doughnut Bobbing - A fun activity but it can leave guests a bit messy

  • Karaoke - Fun anytime and anyplace

  • Steel Band

Before you make your choices for your day you need to have an idea what you would like to achieve. Mostly you may want your guests to have fun, to remember your day as special and you may want them to have a keepsake. Keepsakes don't always have to be the usual items. Doing an activity like sip and paint will leave your guests with a painting after a bit of fun. Mianki Jamboree not only provides games but game keepsakes as well.

In this digital age where everyone has a smartphone and it always seems connected to the world, it does however have a downside - they are always connected to the world. This may seem to be a funny statement until you notice that at many events most people have their phones out looking at the screen. You could counter this by banning phones at your wedding totally or during the ceremony (which is what I did at my wedding) or you could use the opportunity, all of your guests has a camera which comes with these phones. By asking your guests to take photos and sharing to a predetermined site or social media account which can be displayed during the reception. This will add great moments and make your wedding special and your guests will love it.

Weddings are a great event for bringing family and friends together however they may be in the same place but not necessarily mixing. Games will break the ice, to bring the separate groups together especially giant wooden games which does have a special nostalgic appeal. Whether during the cocktail hour or later during the reception, games are always fun and it brings out our competitive spirit. There are many companies that can supply games however Mianki Jamboree will also setup beforehand, and provide assistance to reset games and ensure everyone has the best experience while also leaving you to concentrate on other things.

So don't be afraid to be different, to create a day that will not only be special to you but to all of your guests as well. Your only limitation is your imagination and whether you know it or not you are blessed with plenty.

Have a great day when it arrives and please let me know if this was helpful.
